JUSTice Highlights - April 3, 2024
For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and we were all made to drink of one Spirit. Indeed, the body does not consist of one member but of many. (1 Cor. 12:12-14)
Christ calls us to be one body with many parts. And so it is with the Love Your Neighbor Coalition. We are fifteen organizations with connected and intersecting goals for the upcoming General Conference. But we are united as one body, focused on justice for all people, justice for the planet, and justice within the institution of the church.
Below are some ways you can connect to the General Conference in Charlotte - in person or from home.
MFSA Plumblines Offer Clear Positions on Key Issues
In cooperation with other LYNC Coalition members, the Methodist Federation for Social Action is once again publishing “MFSA Plumblines” position papers on key issues before the upcoming General Conference.
Designed to assist delegates in having a clear focus on the key progressive justice aspects of legislation, the Plumblines can help anyone seeking to understand key issues that will be debated in Charlotte, beginning April 24.
As of today, two papers have been published dealing with regionalization and divestment from fossil fuels. More will be coming as we get closer to General Conference.
They can be found on the MFSA website and the LYNC website for viewing and download. The LYNC website also provides machine-based translations for a multi-lingual church.
The Love Your Neighbor Coalition is still actively seeking financial support to help share the message of an inclusive and caring United Methodist Church. Join Us!
